I might start one for exactly the same reasons as you, so that I can waffle
self indulgently and not feel like I'm wasting your time.
Still, it seems certain posters (i.e. dekay) seem to, rather than just
supplmenting talk here with a diary, seem to be removing text they might
have posted in the group, to the diary.
I'm not having a go, do whatever you feel like, but it's a bit...
"I'm playing this game http://linktomydiary"
"Q: Has anyone played this game and what do you think of it?"
"A: I have http://linktomydiary"
....these days which is ever so slightly 'dom robinson'.
By the year 2010 Play Want Bin will become nothing but a collection of
gaming diary links

I'm having a go, if you're not. It's almost like advertising, but it's
"ok because it's regulars doing it". What's the difference from posting
the same things on this NG, apart from you don't see how many hits
you're getting from posting here? Every time I think of starting a
similar weblog, I think "why on earth would anyone actually want to read
about what I'm playing outside of a PWB post" and don't bother. But
then I'm not the sort of person who'd be comfortable with shamelessley
posting teasers in newsgroups where I could just as easily post the
content of the weblog in the first place either.

I'll repeat what I said before. Would you rather I posed spoilers here?
If you've actually *looked* at my blog, there's rather a lot more than
just a game diary there, and it got a pretty large amount of traffic
before I put a game diary on it.

Do you really want a daily update posted from everyone on whatever they
happen to be playing? Surely not - wouldn't you rather, oh I dunno,
subscribe to an RSS feed of someone you're interested in hearing from?
Which, incidentally, doesn't generate any hits other than for the single
xml file.

Don't start a weblog then. Problem solved. Hooray!

Aye.
For my part, if I've got something I think's actually worthy of
discussion or in any way interesting, I'd definitely repost it on
Usenet, rather than post a link, just like I did with my CoD2
impressions.
Course, if I corrected the typos in my posts before copying and pasting
them, that'd be a bonus.

Yes, probably, seeing as there'll usually be spoiler space and maybe
even "spoiler" in the subject line too.

Yes, I have, I've even sent the links to a coupld of articles to some of
my friends because they amused me.

It's more the "click here to see what I've just posted to my weblog"
posts that have been cropping up that bother me rather than the concept
itself.

Blogger just sets the RSS feed up automatically. I certainly didn't ask
it to do one, it just did it. Which is excellent of it.

Safari shows an RSS icon in the address bar when I visit the main site
and there's an RSS feed available, so I just click on that to go it.
Should be feed://YOUR.WEB.ADDRESS/atom.xml for Blogger blogs.
