Gamespot's BF2 review 9.3/10 - And from what I've played of the demo I'd have to agree, an amazing game to say the least in many respects. Easily GOTY material, folks, at least as far as MMP is First (and will probably be the only) game that I have this year,..

San Andreas problems - anyone else? - San Andreas insists on the DVD drive being the first lettered (E not F as it is on mine) and has a corrupt file half way through install that I ignored (though my drive may need I haven't disabled the CD drive yet, but did anyone else have..

GTA San Andreas - so.. has anyone developed a save anywhere mod for this? I cant believe with this series we still have to resort finding our way back through a lot of map area to a safehouse to save. lol, I hate urban speak, I wonder if they have an English..

GTA: San Andreas - how do you reload? - I've seen in the online guides for the PS2 version that mention being able to do a tactical reload by pressing a button, but I can't find any mention of it in the manual or in the game's key mapping screen. There are in the game..

San Andreas End [Possible Spoiler] - *POSSIBLE SPOILER* .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. On the newsgroup I follow, a guy said that the end of San Andreas is that you drive a black car, get in a car accident, you die, your body ain't found, and you're declared dead just.

The first page brings up the difference between the Xbox and PC version.

This quote is just for you Difool, "The PC version comes on DVD only and is
packaged with a fully bound book that serves as the manual. It's definitely
some of the coolest PC game packaging around." Now you have a reason to buy
this game at full price.

Yeah, the PC version is the best. Too bad I can't get it to friggin'
RUN on my PC.

Installed it; ran it fine for about 20-25 minutes; got a BSOD
associated with a device driver error; and it hasn't run since.

I've checked for drivers, I've disabled every background program I
could manage, and all I get when I click on any program icon is the
spinning disc icon for a few seconds, and then nothing at all. The DVD
drive spins up, but then stops, and nothing.

In fifteen years of PC gaming, this is the most trouble I've ever had
getting a game to run. Think I'll trade it in for the Xbox version
tomorrow. Not that I want to, but at least it'll probably run.

Uh oh, there are people who are gonna be quite whiny that it's on DVD.

If someone only has one DVD drive (in my case a dual layer Toshiba
burner) and a disc doesn't read in it the solution isn't to go get
another DVD drive. The game goes back, period. Could be a defective
copy, could be a defective press run, but a console version that works
will always be better than a PC version that doesn't.

You mean I won't be able to play it on my 2.5GHz P4 with 1G RAM and an
ATI Radeon X850 using my old 4X CD-ROM drive I found in a dumpster
back in 1997? Noooooo!!!

Seriously, upgrade already people.

LOL, agreed...forking out the same amount of money for a new DVD-ROM drive
as a new game costs and then having to <gasp> open up the computer to
install it is a big hardship!

You should buy Battlefield 2 then San Andreas. Remember, GTA was initially
developed for PC, even GTAIII was meant to be on PC first, but PS2 grabbed
the rights.

If people don't buy this game by the bucket load, we will not see a quality
PC port next time. Many of the other games on your list are derivative
rubbish that we could do without in any case.

Who doesn't have a DVD drive in their computer by now? Even a simple
DVD-ROM drive is like $25. You'll be hard pressed to even *find* a plain
CD-ROM drive anymore.

Cheap bastard! Games are meant to be bought brand spankin' new, not from the
bargain bin >Smile

A DVD-ROM drive is around 20 Euros here (Austria), DVD burners and games are
40-50 Euros. I think I haven't seen a pre-built system without some kind of
DVD drive already installed in over three years.

My first DVD-ROM drive was a Pioneer 10x tray load model which I bought in
2000 and it cost $190 CDN plus sales tax. That was a good deal at the time
too! But now, drives are really cheap. The last two or three DVD-ROM
drives I've bought for various systems were hovering around $40 each. At
those sorts of prices, I would expect that such a drive would be standard
equipment on any new computer, but I do still see some budget systems that
simply come with a CD-RW to shave off $10 versus the price of a combo drive.
Incredible!

I have played GTA San Andreas for a week --THEN-- some kind of video
driver error and it won't start either.

Same thing you said; it acts like it will start the little spinning
disk starts and boom nothing happens and the disk goes away.

I have reloaded, I have reloaded my video driver and updated it.
Updated windows and directx. But I have no idea where to go from here.
