Since not much has happened since the end of the last one, I suppose I could
fire up another month-or-so-long Bungholios-Barnyard-Brawls or something to keep
peeps playing until Thanksgiving or [with a thanksgiving break] a week before
Christmas or whatever. So who's up for an informal style game?

We're talking, "Barnageddon" here, folks. More sheeps, more fun,
world-apocalyptic devices. Low maintenance. 30 updates. Done. Maybe even a
"Maverick" unit for you republicants.

keep.

continues. Also, there is a significant dely on when the research is
actually delivered. It may actually be delayed for a few updates.
GUANTAN_RIGHTS - After you round up all the che, you have to set them
free again
ILLEGAL_IMMIGRANT_UW - All your libraries have to offer their classes
bi-lingually. You have to offer in-state tuition and driver's
licences to all undocumented UWs. You must open up more research
centers and provide free care to all undocumented uws. Tax rate for
all UWs goes to zero. Civs must pick up all legal expenses associated
with UW felons.
IRAN_OPT - Despite the fact that another country is building nukes and
sworn to destroy one of your allies... Oh hell, I'm not even going to
go here.
Why do I have a feeling I have opened up a can of fetid worms here.

We'll also need the REPUBLICA_NOPTIONS as well
EXTRA_TAXES - Every civ pays 5% more than before to help support the deficit
movement.
PORK_BARRELS - New commodity traded in the market. You don't actually ever
acquire any of these barrels after spending billions on them, but you still get
to spend. After tech 50, these are automatically added to your budget every
update.
BRIDGES_TO_NOWHERE - Actually, this already exists in the game, where you can
ring your island with bridges to get an extra layer of highway sectors while
forcing peeps to live on/under them and taxing them as well.
AUTO_WAR - Any other country that is under-developed that has ever suggested
building up some advanced military prototypes is then automaticallly placed into
your bulleseye of war, and you can invade whenever and for whatever reason you
feel justified.
WAR_CAMPS - Whatever prisoners you capture get sent to another semi-hostile
country that you have a [so-called] partial legal claim to for extensive
*interrogation* sessions.
PRE_DIPLOMACY - Whenever a new country starts an act of terror against you, you
ground all air travel, but allow them fly out all of their related family
members and associates before announcing to your people or the world that they
were the ones who attacked you. Then you resume air travel.
ANTI_SEPTIC - You require all of your sectors to clean up after themselves,
versus letting the underground UW's do those janitorial duties and thus that's
why this populace only increases at a 15% annualized rate (versus that
demographic's propagation rate?).
MAVERICKS - You get a few special mils that never give up when captured and
always remain as pow's, thus never freeing the sector of che.
HEALTH_CARE - Many your civs now have to pay extra if they want any healthcare
since your non-j/k/l/t/r/c/p's can no longer afford to provide for the joe
plumbers of the world. So while your country collects more in taxes, it now has
even less productivity.
NO_OFFSHORE_DRILLING - Oil Derricks are not permitted after a certain tech
level, because your policies dictate that you should import all oil at whatever
price you want because your constituants are getting some sweet kickbacks.
NUCULAR_POLICIES - Only your country is allowed to utilize rads for the peaceful
generation of energy. Any other countries that mine and set up centrifuges are
therefore hostile for whatever reason (unless we didn't know about it).
Feel free to add/subtract at will.

we also need player-defined toggles where, despite whatever REPUBLICAN
or DEMOCRAT options the deitiy has chosen to activate for the game, the player
can declare his country to be a BLUE_STATE (where no REPUBLICAN options
apply, but all DEMOCRAT options do even if not activated by the deity) or he
can declare his country to be a RED_STATE (where the opposite applies). No
BLUE_STATE may ally with a RED_STATE or be in a winning alliance with
them and vice-versa for the RED_STATE's. All BLUE_STATE's and
RED_STATE's are automatically and permenantly at war with anyone who
choose to remain in the default condition of BATTLEGROUND_STATE.

One of the biggest problems most conservatives have with the current
administration is its inability to control spending. They had both
houses and the executive branch and could not keep the wallet closed.

The EASY_Bridge option was put into Empire because people were playing

And please always keep this option open. Think how much better this
planet would be if (as an example) we would have invaded N. Korea in
1949 instead of waiting for them to come over in 1950. Military
losses not considered, millions of people have starved in the
North. But Kim Jung Il sure has great looking hair!

I missed something here. Somebody wants to blow up my kids because I
don't turn towards Mecca every day and believe in capitalism, I've got
no problems water boarding them so I can find out who else is trying
to blow up my kids.

Meanwhile, over in your slum sectors you have people living in your
state assisted flats and living off food stamps because they don't
want to travel a few sectors and actually work dawn to dusk. Some UWs
will come all the from Guatamala just to pull turnips out of the dirt,
but you can't get some civs away from MTV long enough to learn how to
flip a burger. Go figure.

Don't forget the FLASHBACK_MAVERICK option where after 20 updates they
go balistic and shoot up a shopping mall (or get a job in the post
office).

This very morning in the news was the story about how the state of
Hawaii had to cancel its 7 month old policy for providing all
uninsured childern with free health care. Seems that costs were
significantly higher than they thought. The big reason was that many
parents that were paying for private healthcare canceled their
children's coverage since they knew the state was going to cover it.
State officials said that that was not the purpose of the plan.
Political near sightedness if you ask me.

I thought the policies dictated that you didn't want to hurt any sea
slugs and that is why you were not drilling off shore. How about the
NO_OFFSHORE_TURBINES. But this one only takes affect on beaches and
coastlines near powerful New England senator's vacation homes because
they don't want to spoil their view.

Yeah, we all sleep better at night knowing Iran, Pakistan, and North
Korea are making megawatts of electricity with enriched unranium.
What? They actually don't have any power plants? Well then what is
all the U-235 doing over there? and if they didn't want to build
bombs, why not use much cheaper U-238 in fast reactors like Russia
(well, okay, their safety sucks but that's another argument for not
letting the boiling pots play with fancy toys) or develop Thorium
breeders like India.

Game portability - One of the last USB drives that I got has a U3 embedded system. I don't know a lot about it, but it appears that applications can be configured to run off of the USB disk independent of the host computer. Do any of the client maintainers have any.. |
