- bad frame rates
- blurry and shaky graphics
- low quality textures
- I get headache from bad graphics
- very slow game play
- beating up peds is slow and dull
- overall cheap feel
- driving is no fun
- walking is no fun
- user interface is clunky and cheap
- too many things to get snagged on when driving
- does not feel like a "labour of love"
it is not even close to "halo 3" or "burnout paradise" quality
maybe they should have stuck with renderware because RAGE does not cut
it
I did not get bored of GTA San Andreas for 2 years
I was amazed to find myself pressing EJECT after just 3 hours
after good night sleep I played again and got bored after 30 minutes
at least they can not take GTA San Andreas back ...
original plan to spend day playing GTA4 has now changed to "go to
work" as that is more interesting

setting display options to 640x480
speeds things up a bit
and quality does not noticibly reduce as is all blurry and shaky
anyway
eye strain / headaches seem to be caused by two things:
- when walking the right stick recentres about 15 degrees so there is
always extra unwanted and unexpected movement
- when driving the characters head moves with the car causing
unpleasant shakes
- in real life people's bodies and necks take up those movements and
their heads self level so this is not realistic or pleasant |

close range gun work can be sticky
and game decides to pause and then melee with the gun
but in that time you have been shot
but I did not die because of it ... yet
also most missions I have completed have logic errors
for instance approaching the vans (with the tv sets) from the front in
a police car
the game does not detect as a stop
my last van was stuck in a traffic jam
and was therefore stopped already
it was impossible to complete the mission
I had to get another vehicle and knock the traffic jam out of the way
let the van move away and then chase it |

although you have a mission retry option on the mobile phone
you still have to drive miles - which gets a bit tedious
there is some logic that you will care more about the mission if you
are punished for failing
but sometimes people just want to get to the juicy bits ... we paid
already after all
this is same problem as GTA SA - why is it reproduced ?
this is meant to be a game - strip out *all* the boring bits
"next generation" should not just mean graphical gimmicks
i would swap shadow maps, cube maps and fancy lighting for gameplay
and adequate frame rate
without hesitation |

Totally agree with that, why didn't the reviews mention the blur, it

I only have the PS3 version here but I do not find the graphics blurry.
The textures are looking very good as well. Would be interesting if
there was a video/review/website that points out the differences between
the X-Box and the PS3 versions and not only focus on that downloadable
content.
After all, the game comes on Blu-Ray for the PS3 (more capacity) versus
DVD on X-Box. I have a Blu-Ray burner at work and will use it to check
the size and usage of the disk but at the moment I am on holiday
(travelling around in Liberty).
