Completed the game. Here's what I saw with
no patches installed.
1. Only one quest error in the game. On returning
the Spy to Inog, the quest did not complete, and
Clovis ran away so I could not get the quest for
info about the Black Mage in Trellis from him.
However, I simply returned to Trellis and whacked
the Black Mage, and that completed the quest that
Inog would have given me. After that, the game ran
normally with no other broken quests.
2. I set the graphics to High .. default settings for
my rig. Res 1440 x 900, and made no changes
to G3.ini. The graphics ran smoothly for the entire
game. I had no slow downs at all. Screen pauses
were at area uploads only.
3. In all dialogs, sound of voice was audible. There were
no missing voices in dialogs.
4. There are minor errors, such as the wrong player
speaking in dialogs, but not often. The Armor Parts
could not be picked up, but at least they were there
in that quest.
So, my guess is as good as anybodies at to why patches
were issued for this game. There is one broken quest,
and the minor errors are just that .. minor, but playable.
There are now 4 English patches out for this game, and
they are junk. Nobody knows how to install them, and
Jowood ain't tellin'.

So the vanilla game is actually better than the patched one? Even after 4 of
them? I think that might be first right there! |

The usual "johns" SPOILERS. A glaring example of his self-centered
narcissism. I wonder if he also has a fix of Viagra before he visits
the toilet??

Yepp. And since there isn't much chance of improvement, I've stopped
reading his posts.
