Hi,

Can anyone help me with the uniform details for the Centre company
drummers of the French 9th Light Regiment in 1809? I've been looking
for ages but drawn a blank. Unfortunate because I have 106 28mm figures
waiting for varnishing until I've finished these two chaps.

Cheers

Neil

Hi Neil,

I'll try to describe here what gives Cdt BUCQUOY about your subject
drummer. I'm currently unable to send you a scan of this, sorry about
that.
The drummer wears the regular blue uniform with long basques.
Collar, cuffs, "parements", swallow's nests and basques are medium
green (looks like a light emerald green on the illustration), with a
blue/white/red piping in the usual drummer pattern. The shako sports a
brass losange plate with a cut-out 9 and white cord and rackets.
The drum is black, with blue top and bottom band and white straps.

Sorry for the approximate translation of some elements of this uniform.

Regards

J-P

There was a typo error in my previous post:
the drum is BRASS colour, not black!

Sorry again

Thanks for the info J-P. It corresponds roughly with what I did for my
9th Light drummers, which sets my mind at rest. When you start painting
these things you discover how many bits and pieces aren't described in
the various uniform guides.
