Were they all working and then just quit at the same time? Or did you buy
the game this way? Maybe they fizzled out gradually over time rather than
all going at the same instant. I've been confused by stuff like this
before- both alpahnumeric displays being bad, but numerics working, or
vice-versa. Every time, for me, it's been on games I've picked up as-is
with no known history and turned out to just be burned-out display tubes.
May be the same on your game.
If they all went out at same time that might be a signal problem from MPU
board- cracked solder joints are common on these games, so may be a bad
joint.

No- Whirlwind uses 2 x 16-d alphanumeric tubes. F-14 uses 2 x 7-d
alphanumerics and 2 x 7-d numerics- different hardware.
Another game like Swords of Fury, Millionaire, Cyclone, Big Guns, Fire,
Millionaire, PinBot, Road Kings, High Speed or Grand Lizard would/should
have the same setup as F-14.
