Yup, the download version is out about a month before they said it
would be ... and only 4 days after I bought the Russian version (sigh).
It's available from the DCS website and costs US$49.99 :

Probably made it available now because they realized they were losing profit
to the Russian version because that version is a lot cheaper. Just bought
Farcry2 and Hired Guns in the past 2 days so can't decide between BS now or
Steel Fury now. I'll get both eventually but Steel Fury is cheaper and a
smaller download so think I will go with that for now. |

Just bought the English version and I'm currently downloading. Can't wait,
haven't played a decent helicopter combat sim for a long time!

I lied, I'm downloading BS now. Couldn't hold out even though I do
despise DRM and Starforce. Turns out Farcry2 has the dreaded DRM too and
I wasn't even aware of it when I bought it. The 'effing game wants to
check for updates every time I start FC2 up. |

It's definitely hardcore. 9 pages of key commands. |

Yep, it's hardcore indeed. Once I got my TrackIR and Cougar FSSB setup, I
was able to do NOE and avoid a few missiles etc. I'm really happy with that,
as it's been years since I played a decent heli sim. I got the russian dl
version, happy to wait for the UK retail. I am going to have to open up the
Cougar and up the resistance required for the pressure sensor. |

I only know 2 key commands - engine idle and close door. There is no need to
remember the rest as they are mapped to buttons in the virtual cockpit - far
easier learning the cockpit than learning a bunch of random keys to press.

I find that method is too slow and awkward while flying at the same time so
prefer to use the key commands. I had trouble flying it at first because I
had to apply constant forward pressure on the stick or else the nose would
go almost vertical. Then I learned the T key command for trim and it was no
longer an issue. Is there a button in the cockpit to press for trim? |

Not that I have found, but I map the trim button to the button at the bottom
front on my joystick column which equates to the resting place of my small
finger. The trim control is mandatory for flying this beast, that and
ensuring one doesn't descend so fast with no forward movement that one ends
up in a vortex ring.
Black Shark has been one of the best flying sims for a long long time and I
can't stop playing it.

I have an Ideazon Fang so have been creating a profile for BS. Helps a lot
because I can program macros to one key, and BS has lots of macros. Some
require three different very awkward key presses. Now I can eject with the
press of one button. I recommend this cool little toy to all gamers. They
only cost about $30.0 - $35.00. They are really good for FPS games.
