I have been playing Vanguard since release and almost every time I
login there are ooc conversations about EQ. Seems the legacy is
strong.

Since I've been away from EQ for the last year+ I was wondering if the
community is still strong, if it's mostly raiding now or if group
content still exists, and if the population is mostly raiding or if
they do group content?

Thanks.

There's more group content than ever, but you need good ties and
relationships to be able to get involved in it (pickup groups are not
the norm). Sony focus on the group game in theory.

Now's a good time to come back, all accounts and expansions are free
until some time in july, hot zones have an extra extra 25% xp, you get a
bunch of free step-up gear if you start playing again to help you catch
up, etc., etc.

Until July 25, 2008.

The step up gear is a Legacy Satchel with 7 slots. One item in it
is a POK book, open the book, you go back to POK. A stack of 10
potions, 30 minutes of extra exp. A stack of 10 speed potions. I
think its for movement. The 3 armor items are by class and level.
They are atuneable, and only become no trade after one character
uses them. So until they are placed on one character, you can
move them around. Defiant armor is dropping at random in all
zones. All returning accounts are given all 14 expansions.

If you start paying before the expiration date, you get to keep
all of it.

That sounds really good, I wonder what that will do to Vanguard then?
They seem to be competing with themselves to some extent but whatever.

As for group content and contacts, are there guilds who focus more on
group content rather than raiding? My problem is I play only on
Thursday nights pacific time, so raiding is all but impossible for me.

Thanks.

I left one thing out, a weapon scabbard that when opened becomes
a weapon. In the official forums its mentioned as being 2 handed.
