Darkwind players out there?

Anybody here play Darkwind? I was always a fan of Car Wars, found the
Darkwind site by accident doing some googling a long while back, and had
tried it out... Definitely has an Autoduel feel to it, and is turn
based (well, pseudo - there is a time limit per turn since it is
multiplayer). Had some fun running the basic racing circuits, but never
really got into it enough to develop a character and build cars, etc.
Seems to have a persistent world, areas to run through, enemies to
fight, etc. I just never managed to get that far in my initial tinkering.

Is it worth playing with and getting deeper?

Short answer: Yes.

Long Answer: Still yes, but you have to subscribe to own and build/
customise vehicles. Not sure how long ago you tried it out, but you
can now do the 'wilderness events' even if you haven't subscribed so
you can see if you will like that aspect of the game. The
subscription cost is pretty reasonable.
