I wonder if this was just some early user's solution before the era of
the Vectrex Multicart?

However, given that there is a screenshot for Mail Plane (a map view)
actually displayed on a Vectrex, I wonder if that is more than
anybody has ever seen before for Mail Plane? The downloadable binary
for Mail Plane available from www.vectrex.nl is corrupt and definitely
doesn't get that far - it just hangs.

my copy work a bit but i hae no intruction to work ,it's z better rom
from jeroen site
if i can have a eepron reader/wrtier i can make a same of this :
modify a standart cartbrige incluing a a amoving support eeprom and
burn some eprom wthich rom find on the web

Rudy, I dont have a light pen, but when I run Mail Plane it crashes
after the initial start up screen - I got the binary from Jeroen's
www.vectrex.nl website. Are you saying that in your version you get to
see the maps?

Does the light pen need to be plugged in like the 3D imager for
lightpen games to work? The 3D games will hang if there's no imager
plugged into port 2, but you can start the game (slowly) by repeatedly
pressing button 4 on controller 2 (simulating the square wave signal
the vectrex needs from the imager to get synchronized).

Not from what I recall, the lightpen games will boot up fine without
the pen plugged in, you just can't do much afterwards...

So has anyone seen the flight map images on their version of Mail
Plane binary, or does the picture of the flight map image on eBay
represent a step further previosuly unseen, perhaps its a different
version from a different source. The binary version available on
www.vectrex.nl I always thought was corrupt.

The binary available on www.vectrex.nl is indeed corrupted, and won't
run.
I don't know for the rest of the binary, but all I can say is that the
block $0100-$01FF is a plain duplication of the block $0000-$00FF.

Its all a bit foggy and please don't take this message as 100%
accurate but I seem to remember Chris Romeo had bought a rom from
Ebayzilla (Wilk? - an ex MB or GCE employee?) and he kindly made a
copy of the rom public.
But there is also another version which has been reported as working
by a magazine called Retrogames some years ago, but many claimed that
this was a fake report.
I'm just wondering if the flight maps as shown in the ebay picture are
something that nobody has seen before, and that the binary forsale
there represents a different Mail Palne ROM.
