I've had random luck finding DVD-R or DVD-RWs that work with my Pioneer
810H. Some brands don't work at all, some brands work sporadically.

Has anybody discovered one that works consistently?

Fujifilm 8X DVD-Rs seem to work for me.

Interesting. The manual says:

The Recorder is compatible with DVD-RW Ver. 1.1 and Ver. 1.1/2x, and
DVD-R Ver. 2.0
and Ver. 2.0/4x.

But I'll give the Fuji 8x's a try.

Thanks!

I don't think 8x even existed when they printed the manuals. But
finding the slower speeds became a pain so I tried the 8x and they
worked so I bought a spindle. Still have a ton left, I don't burn
often anymore since my main TiVo is my S3.

16x are likely to be iffy, they tweaked the DVD-R spec to go from 8x
to 16x and it created some compatibility issues.
