| I've bought my mum a DS for Xmas and want to get a few games she'll
like.
Obviously all the "brain" ones and probably Prof Layton.
Any others that I am missing?

That's a risky one. I'm not sure my mum will "get it"...
I already have a copy myself so may loan her mine. |

Animal Crossing
42 All-Time Classics
Perhaps other point and click adventures like Hotel Dusk, Phoenix
Wright, Secret Files: Tunguska. Maybe Super Mario 64 DS? And, for
that matter, Mario Kart DS. |

I know I'm not alone in having a mum whose DS is essentially a dedicated
scrabble machine.
The other games that get a fair amount of use in her collection are a
pair of "My Spanish Coach" edutainment titles (I assume there are other
languages out there - it's not something I'd ever thought to look for).

You dislike the practice of verbing nouns? |

It's a verb in Merkin English! |

42 All-Time Classics and Animal Crossing (of which I'm a huge fan) seem
popular amongst the older crowd here. I'd also recommend any of the
turn-based RPGs and strategy games - anything not requiring stressful
split second decisions. Older players seem to have trouble with fast
paced 'twitch' games so I'd avoid titles like StarFox.
Take a look at Gamespot
>http://www.gamespot.com/reviews.html?type=reviews&platform=1026&mode=al
l&sort=score&dlx_type=all&sortdir=asc&official=all> for DS game reviews
- they're spot on IME.
