Just got the *cough* kids *cough* a DS and looking around, notice that Age
of Empires is out at end of January. Anyone seen any reviews of this?

Haven't seen any reviews, but unless they do a zoo tycoon on the
controls, I don't see how it can possibly be bad. I'm praying it's a
huge success, because I'm pretty sure Firaxis will be watching to see
how it does. The better AoE is, the more chance there is of seeing a
port of Civ.

Civ was, and is, still the best in my humble opinion.

Wouldn't mind seeing Colonization, too. That was great fun.

Well, they've made it turn-based for one thing. Which could be alright, or
it could just end up being Civ but without any real depth.

III isn't as good as II. IV is very very good. I still prefer II, but
the extra multiplayer modes in IV make all the difference. I think you
should have a go to get the hang of the new stuff, then we can start a
ugv* play-by-email session Smile

I made Civ 4 my bestest game ever on the .misc thread. It is awesome, just
awesome, IMO. THey have got rid of most of the tedious aspects but it is
still as deep as ever.

Is Civ4 worth buying then? I had Civ3 and got rid of it as it got tedious
after a while. That totally put me off buying any new strategy games.
Is it worth waiting for it to be bundled with whatever future expansion pack
it gets?

Yippee-kai, Aquila!

God, yes.

Why wait? It's only £17.99 delivered at Play.com anyway.

If it's getting tedious, I'd suggest playing on a smaller map.
