Any of our 'Zine publishers consider something like this?

By November 21st, USAK will be moving back onto a commercial connection.
For users this means faster, better, more reliable service and more
games. Of the $150 installation fee and $85 monthly cost:
$50 came from responses to the Blue Goose membership campaign.
$115 came from direct donations.
The balance came from work for hire performed by the judgekeeper.

I;d nevefr heard of it...but I like the free form ability of Word,
this seems like it might be more work...not sure though, over the next
month or two maybe I'll look into it further.
On the other hand, does anybody know a similar networking site or
group designed to distribute pdf zines?

Oh, I had heard of it, there are actually a few similar efforts lying
around. But why WOULD we be interested in it? Most of the other efforts
out there WERE on PDF (efanzines.com, www.pdf-mags.com), I think they are
still active.
I never found anything about these that were useful. What WAS useful was
"back in the day", a guy (name I forget) tried to keep a database of every
fanzine in existence, with key words and contact info. Eventually he
burned out, and it languished sort of existing for awhile, then he folded
it.
Still, Doug, you might find things that interest you.

Maybe for the DAIDE community. It's also possible that there might be
some intense sociological or behavioral research using Diplomacy for an
interaction base, but that's more of a stretch.
I do think that we're attracting a more visually oriented player base
than in the postal and email heyday, hence the original post.
I've got some nibbles on the social site design. There's a content
management system I've been looking to use for a base. The developer
released a preview last weekend and it turns out I'm not the only one
to be interested in building social networking on top of it, which is
good because I'm a better designer than developer.

Yes, you may call the JK on his mobile if the judge is down. His name
is Chris. |

Hi Calvin, what an "unexpected comment"!! Are you also an economist?
The BEPress Digitalcommons is designed for research working papers, like
the ones that academic departments create and otherwise would have to
maintain themselves. It is unclear to me how/why Diplomacy material would
gain from this either.
Sorry, but I don't see it, any of you guys,

Hell no.

Indeed. Hence I suggested a digital commons TYPE project, not that the
back issues be included in the existing project.

Why, "hell, no", do you think all of us economists belong/are in hell???

Yeah, and there, trying to help with such projects academically, I guess I
see the possible connection, but those are all fueled by an incentive
system that doesn't exist here. I don't see it being populated very well.
But I could be wrong, I won't stand in the way of a good idea.

Prolly not, but from a technical perspective, that is the solution.
