Civ 4: My tech tree is in French?

Yeah, that one took me about five minutes. On top of that, whatever copy
protection the cd uses doesn't play nice with my primary DVD drive; I'll
have to flash the drive's bios I'm sure, but in the meantime I'm stuck
playing out of my burner.

Does anybody know what kind of copy-protection scheme that Civ 4 uses?

There were quite a few posts about the French poster issue at the forums of
Civfanatics. You should contact Take2 and ask for an English one.

Take 2 has a special link on their site where they can either send you the
English-language tech tree, or you can download it in PDF format if you
prefer.

Notice that they don't have any way of knowing whether or not you actually
own the game in order to request the tech tree. Not that I'm suggesting
anything, of course...

I can't imagine that they would object to someone who is considering a
purchase downloading it.

Check the Civ 4 website. There's a post on the site saying there's a
problem with some of the US versions. They had factory issues
apparently. You can then fill out the form and get the correct one for
free.

Again, a sound marketing practice. The only people who would apply would be
those already familiar with earlier verions of the game, and who were
considering getting the new one.
