Playing the game is not to bad but when it comes to the Cinematics it
slows to about a frame every three seconds, also the game loads very
slowly.
System is
Windows XP S/Pack 3
Intel Pentium 4 CPU. 3.00 GHz
Processor. x86 family 15 model 4 stepping 1 GenIntel 3014 MHz
3.01GHz. 1.50 of RAM.
ATI Radeon HD 3850 AGP Graphics with Catalyst Control Cnt
Display is
800 x 600 32 bit
Refresh rate is 60Hz
I also cannot play AOD,Legend or Anni with this card on factory
settings.
If anyone has the settings I can use it would be a big help.

In the game menu, options, video, turn OFF all filtering and full screen
effects. All the games listed are DX9 games. Underworld is DX9.0c 5th
build, which was earlier this year. Underworlds installer updates DX to the
latest build. your system seems to be a pretty good one for AoD, maxed
settings, except for the video card.

If you look through that list you won't find any advanced Radeon HD cards
that are AGP, all are PCI Express 2.0
Is your card AGP or PCIe?

Is there anything in "Catalyst Control"I can change?. I'm reluctant to
change anything in case I stuff it up.I changed the 3D to custom to
smooth the lines, and my display went burko (F&^#ed up) so I had to
reboot PC and change it back.
I have also found out that some media files that used to play on the
latest Windows Media Player now nolonger play, is this the card

There is something else there.

I think it is the card. Your card is not ATI branded, they didn't make an
AGP version. Which brand is it? You'd have to go to them and use their
drivers.
And yes, going back to AGP with that GPU is whats hurting you. it was never
designed for that bus. and it isn't supposed to be on AGP. Any weirdness
may ensue, and apparently has. My suggestion is an AGP card/GPU what was
designed to BE used in AGP. Beyond this, I honestly don't know what to say
about your issues with it.

have you updated to the latest drivers? if you have and it messed
things up, go back to the previous drivers. if you haven't, give it a
shot. also, depending on how long the card has been in your computer
and the env it's in, you might want to open the side and inspect it.
make sure it's seated properly, and check for dust in the fans, etc.
could be a heat issue.

You *may* need to turn off video acceleration for Media Player - it
shouldn't affect any games, but it might stabalise Media Players play back.

Have latest drivers and card has been in only 3 weeks. If I reinstall
the old Nvidia Ti 4200 - 8X card everything works fine except UW.This
is why I upgraded to the Radeon HD 3850

ATI no longer makes any ATI branded cards. They don't list
a HD38xx card for AGP interface either. I only see a HD2600
listed at the ATI web site.

The box is marked "HIS - Radeon HD 3850 - ATI cross fireX - AGP 512mb
- 1080p full HD HDMI.

Ok, things have changed a good bit since ATI was vacuumed up by AMD. They
don't make *cards* anymore, just GPU chipsets and likely reference boards,
but no ATI branded boards at all. And the manufacturers DO have a bunch of
AGP versions out. NewEgg is me friend here. Wink

Your card is so up to date it should be running all those games flawlessly.
So I dunno whassup, I'm at a loss.

Yeah I went there and saw that too. I then went to NewEgg to see who's
selling what now. LOTS of AGP offerings, even in the later GPU's.
Although, ATI designed the GPU to PCIe 2.0 specs, obviously it works in AGP
as well. Else, why would so many board makers produce all those AGP
versions?
