Post subject: Changing a cd key in 2004?
Archived from groups: alt>games>unreal>tournament (more info?)

I've got UT2004 installed on all the computers at my parents house
(except the laptop), so we can have a small LAN party when the family
gets together. Unfornately, we can't play on an internet server,
because I have only one cd key.

I've ordered a second copy of the game, and I'd like to change the
copy on my spare computer over to the new cd key. Anyone know how to
accomplish this?

Cut and paste this into notepad and save as a filename such as
"Unreal2004.reg"

Make sure on the line that says "CDKey"="XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX" , change the
X's to the CD key you plan to use.

Once saved as "UT2004.reg", just double click on it to install this into the
registry and then you dont have to reinstall the whole game again!!!!!

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Unreal Technology]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Unreal Technology\Installed Apps]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Unreal Technology\Installed Apps\UT2004]
"Folder"="C:\\UT2004"
"Version"="3204"
"CDKey"="XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX"
"ADMIN_RIGHTS"="You need to run this program as an administrator, not as a
guest or limited user account."
"NO_DISC"="No disc in drive. Please insert the disc labeled 'Unreal
Tournament 2004 Play Disc' to continue."
"NO_DRIVE"="No CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive detected."
"TITLEBAR"="Unreal Tournament 2004"
"WRONG_DISC"="Wrong disc in drive. Please insert the disc labeled 'Unreal
Tournament 2004 Play Disc' to continue."
"YEAR"="2004"

Also if you are behind a router, multiple connections with the same key are
allowed. Well, maybe not "allowed" per se, but you can do it. I see it all
the time on my servers, Same IP, same key hash playing at the same time.

Even though it's a "dead" game and I hate Epic, handing out keys is
still lameness.
