Still beta, but things are looking up. Take a look at
http://www.unrealtower.org/beta/ - there is an UMod and Non-UMod version
available.

- Added the .ini file.
- First release in UMod form.
- The chicken has a "Select" animation.
- ScoreKill is no longer called when you score by holding the chicken.
- Sometimes the chicken wouldn't spawn. Now it's tried 10 times, and if
that still doesn't work the game is over and the next level is tried.
- Bots didn't pick up the chicken correctly (inventory item was left
behind invisibly)
- Bots didn't switch to the chicken "weapon" when picked up.
- When you're not carrying the chicken and someone is firing on you, you
don't loose armor any more.
- Bots also shoot at another bot if that bot is holding the chicken.
- Bots have good skins now.
- If you pick up the chicken, throw it away and die, you can pick up the
chicken again when you respawn.
- The chicken doesn't lock up any more when you are firing a weapon at
the moment you pick up the chicken. If it still locks up, try
switching to another weapon. That should fix things.

If I release something in UMod, I always try to include a zip as well

I just tried the umod version of CtC 0.6, and it runs normally for a few seconds,
then shuts down UT with a critical error message.

I'm running UT GOTY on a P1 200 MHz MMX with 64 MB RAM, and a Creative
Labs 16MB Banshee 3DFX video card. (Yes, it's playable, barely).
I was using standard bots on two different standard maps. (Deck 16 and Ablee).
UT is normally quite stable and trouble free on this system.
I have not tried any previous versions.
Here's the error report.

Auch. Bad, bad CTC.

I know what it feels like. I didn't only play on a similar machine, I
even did UT development on it! Wink

Deck16][ rocks, and it's my favourite testing map.

Auch... I'll have to take a look at that. Does it happen all the time,
or only once in a while?

Thanks for the bug report!

I had some problems running the game.

First, since I had been playing CTF in amateur-made levels, that's
what I ended up in. The game crashed.

So I tried it on some original DM maps. In Fractal, the chicken never
spawned. Also, when anyone fell through the hole, they never died in
the energy field, just took falling damage.

Then I tried Oblivion. The chicken spawned, but the game crashed just
as I took fatal damage. Here's the message:

BotReplicationInfo DM-Oblivion.BotReplicationInfo3 (Function
Botpack.BotReplicationInfo.SetRealOrderGiver:0000) Infinite script
recursion (250 calls) detetected

History: FFrame::Serialize <- AActor::ProcessState <- Object
CTC_TFemale2Bot DM-Oblivion.CTC_TFemale2bot0, Old State State
Botpack.Bot.Attacking, New State State
CatchtheChicken.CTC_Bot.huntChicken <- AActor::Tick <- TickAllActors
<- Ulevel::Tick <- (NetMode=0) <- TickLevel <-UGameEngine::Tick <-
UpdateWorld <-MainLoop

I tried a CTF map again, and got pretty much the same message.

I was playing with three bots, by the way.

And I have an AMD1700+, GeF4 graphics, 528mb ram, running XP.

Some further testing on Deck 16 only has revealed that the critical error
only occurs when there is more than one bot in the game. When using
only one bot, the game can be played to it's conclusion, although the
bot has a tendency to become completely invisible, and sometimes loses
interest in the chicken as well. If I am able to determine the triggers for this
behavior, I'll let you know.

This has the potential to be a good game, once the bugs are worked out.
Thanks for all the time and effort you're putting in.

That's interesting information. I can tell you that the last thing I did
with the bots was the pathfinding stuff, which I tested on one bot only.
That's probably why this bug slipped my attention.

> the bot has a tendency to become completely invisible

That's weird!

> sometimes loses interest in the chicken as well.

Yes, I built that into the bot in case the pathfinding routines can't
find the chicken. Better to run around waiting to be triggered again
than to get stuck on a single pathnode.

Thanx

No problem! I'm really enjoying myself Wink

That's interesting. Can you email me the map at meltdown AT unrealtower

Also very interesting information. If the chicken never spawned, the
game should be over. Did you check with 'mutate ctc location' that the
chicken really didn't spawn?

The error was not substantially different from the error I included in
my other posts, or that the other person posted. (The Infinite script
recursion.)

I didn't think to try that, but I did play the map for quite a while.
(Tried to shoot some of the bots into the hole.) How long before an
uncaptured chicken respawns?

Hello {AGUT2}MeltDown

>> How long before an uncaptured chicken respawns?
AM> 30 seconds by default. Can be configured.

Just to confirm the other reports, I got the 250 calls recursion error
also, with 0.0.6

Dm-Cryptic (dom-cryptic renamed), Instagib, 7 novice bots.

Win98se, 512M, GF4ti1200, XP2400

Map started normally, I used ctc-location to see that chicken was just
below me at gargoyle. I walked along the gantry and watched as a bot
headed straight towards it; as soon as the bot touched the chicken UT
crashed out the the infinate recursion error.
