Might be because it is a STRATEGY game, not an ACTION game, twat. Oh,
that's right, you are an imbecile and have problems with reading
comprehension. Try comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.strategy. |

They screwed me on the first one, so I'm going to have to see some
reviews and a demo first... |

Your post give me a chance to ask:
What exactly is meant by 'going gold'?
Also, I've seen 'platinum edition' on some games, if you could
explain that too.
Thanks

It means the game has been finished and the master copy is now in the
hands of the disc duplicators who will begin stamping out copies and
shipping to retailers ASAP.

That usually indicates a special edition of a game that has been on the
market for a while. For example, a popular game that has enjoyed good
sales and also has several "expansion packs" available for it, will
often be re-packaged to include all of the expansions. A Platinum
Edition might thus be offered for sale at a much lower price than it
would cost to buy the original game plus expansions. Sometimes the
publishers will also include a few extras like revised manuals, strategy
guides, posters, music CDs, junk jewelry, etc. |

I agree. I couldn't care less about B&W2. The first one was mildly
amusing for about an hour or two. Then it became monotonous and
thoroughly un-fun. I'm not about to trust reviews on this one either,
since they gushed about how great B&W1 was on all the gaming sites.
It'll take a lot of positive gamer feedback to make me take interest.

'Going (or gone) Gold' is the stage in the development process when the
publisher has signed off the code the developer has delivered, and
authorised it for duplication. At that point, the retail CDs are pressed
and the game is typically in the shops within a fortnight. The term comes
from the Gold Master CD from which the retail copies are duplicated.
Not to be confused with a Gold, or Platinum version of a game, which is
typically a marketing device only, signifying that the game now comes
bundled with all updates, or an expansion, or has been heavily patched and
re-issued. |

All the UK games mags, but especially PC Zone, hyped B&W to the max. Because
they all fawn over Peter Molyneaux. So I fell for the hype last time, won't
be doing so this time. Do demo, no sale to the Mickmeister fellas. |

See, I'm probably the only person who will admit to enjoying Molyneaux's
games. Even though the first B&W was flawed and I never finished it, I still
found enjoyment from it. That game still has the single best moment I have
experienced in gaming. I have higher hopes for B&W 2 because Ron Millar from
StarCraft and Diablo fame is the lead designer. |

I'll remember that when you post PC and PS3 news in the Xbox group. The game
is an RTS, there's plenty of action. But I guess I can't blame you for the
flame. I did ask for it. |

I am scepticle after the first turned out to be interesting to muck
about with, but no more. If they have done what they said and got rid of
all the bullshit management of collecting wood and generally make it
feel more like a game rather than an assortment of tech demos then I'll
be happy to give it a whirl. |

I never finished the first one, so I have no incentive to buy this one

Many of the typical arese lickers gave it rave reviews, so beware of them! |

I will admit to liking a lot of PM's games, I know it is trendy to
knock him but he really has had a major positive effect on the
industry over the years, but B&W really failed to live up to the hype
and I can't see myself buying B&W2 without a demo, which I am sure
won't happen.
