Hey All,
Haven't been back here for a while... Just wondering if anyone has any
idea of the release date of black shark?
I know it's been in beta for a few months - I'm keen to check it out
now I have updated my rig....
Any info appreciated....
Cheers

Don't hold your breath, this is ED we're talking about!
Besides, the amount of insane detail going into features which will add
roughly zero to gameplay have long since ground down my enthusiasm for
this add-on. I believe it will be militarily unequalled in terms of
systems detail. But I predict most players will look at this stuff once,
be very impressed, then never use it again.
Still, you have to believe ED have a plan and that their work will be
useful to the Russian military or something.

The Battlefield Simulator. At least I think thats what
it's called. They have for a while done a full
sim for the US military. This is just a spin off
from it.
And I for one look forward to Black Shark, and the
detail. Just like Falcon 4.0, there are those who
want to get that immersed.

I've lost complete interest in the sim since they started using the
Starforce version they now use for Flaming Cliffs. I know I'm just one
user, and I can't influence what they'll do next, but I'd rather have
activation if it comes down to it.

It's not so bad on the CD version of Flaming Cliff's
and as long as it doesn't get worse, I'll do OK.
I can see it now, everyone will be using it for
online, and all of a sudden there will be helo's
hunting fixed wing's....

I also noticed the isane details on things like the tanks, people, etc. If
you are flying it is highly unlikely you will ever get close enough to see
this details unless you specifically use the F7 key to get next to that
object. TOTAL WASTE OF BYTES, imho. |

As a movie maker I can hardly complain about that kind of thing. I
probably helped encourage it.
I also think with camera-based weaponry in 25T and BS, and especially
smaller speeds and ranges in BS, there's an excuse for higher detail
graphics... especially trees!
I do, however, worry about the extreme realism going into the weapons
systems. Unlike F4 you can't pause the action in LOMAC to study the
manual and make changes, only slow it down.

Ah, those were the days! ED are supposed to be using Speedtree trees
at some point, but not for BS sadly (unless I'm very much mistaken!)

No snakes though.
