Can anybody in here beat any of the first few street fighter games
without losing a match? I don't care what system it is; be it the
Genesis, Dreamcast, X-BOX, or PS2. It's just impossible.
I'm trying to unlock bonus content on the Capcom Classics collection.
Yeah, right. I never get past the fifth round no matter who the fifth
oppenent is. The Genesis version seems a little easier, but I'm 100%
sure I can't do it there either.

Get the hell out. Do you have this PS2 collection? Maybe you could
send me a copy of your memory card data?
I would do much better if I could change guys after each match. For
example, I usually use Ryu, but I will do much better against Vega
with Blanka. When he climbs up on the cage and jumps off on me I
electrocute him
Certain guys just seem to match up better against other guys.
This game cheats a lot also, usually on match 5. It's worse than John
Elway's Quarterback. Some of the stunts that he pulls leave me wanting
to hurricane kick my TV screen

It's all about the AI patterns, and learning them for each character. I
can beat the entire game without loosing a match, even on level 8
difficulty...but it did take some practice.

Dee Jay Maximum? That's Super Street Fighter II.
Super Street Figher II was released for the Sega Genesis, though it's
probably very hard to find.
Also, look at Capcom Classics Collection volume 2 for the PS2. However, this
collection has Super Street Fighter II Turbo, so the gameplay will be
faster. That said, Super Street Figher II Turbo does also offer a choice of
Turbo 1 (Slow), 2, and 3 (Fast). |

I remember playing it in the arcade. I don't recall if Dee Jay and the
other new characters were any good.

I have just ordered this online a few days ago. I'm waiting for it to
arrive. Wouldn't you know it, when I finally decided to part with the
$20 and buy it, all local copies of it had vanished. SIGH.
I'm excited to hear that this is on there. Thanks for the info.

I might check it out on the Genesis too, just out of curiousity. Never
ceases to amaze me what a great job the Genesis did on such a large
number of arcade games.

This comes from the tips section of the capcom classics CD. Something
that I actually did unlock.
"Guile's knee attack (hold back + medium kick) lets him travel forward
while keeping his sonic boom charged. After throwing a sonic boom,
advance with the knee, then throw another one."
This may explain the phenomenon you've described. Of course it doesn't
explain why his spinning leg trip hits you on the second spin when it
couldn't reach you on the first one

It's probably that PS2 pad, it's not exactly the best for fighting
games. Could be worse though, could be the 360's pad.

Those are good, but my personal favorite has always been Guile walking
way the screen towards you, then throwing a Sonic Boom. Good stuff.

DJ and the other new characters show up in Super Street Fighter II, as
Daniel mentions.
Your computer may very well be able to handle SSF2, be it in MAME or
that specialized CPS2 emulator(can't remember what it's called off the
top of my head). Also, you may try that modified version of MAME that is
said to run much better on slower machines.

I'm not sure what the rarity of this title is like, but I often times
come across it in the wild. Definitely one of the best conversions on
the Genesis, just an excellent cart.

They're all alright, but DJ was especially hip. I actually like T.Hawk
too. Never much cared for Cammy or Fei Long, but that's just personal
preference, they are still decent characters to use.

Oh man, wait until you see it on the Genesis, it's incredible. Capcom
went all the way with this conversion, and it's a whopping *40* megs,
the largest Genesis cart ever. As you've already ordered the PS2
versions, I don't know that it'd be worth the extra money to try this
one, but I guarantee you that you'll do better using the Genesis pad
rather than the PS2's.

I guess it isn't a cheat that is computer exclusive, but it's
ridiculous that Dalsim can be hit by the dragon punch when he is
crawling around on his stomach and punching his opponents feet. It's
cheap! It really hurts Dalsim. He'd be quite to use if this weren't
the case.
I'm doing a bit better right now. I got up match 6 or 7 without
losing. E Honda really becomes a problem at these levels. Just a few
unimpressive looking slaps and suddenly you realize these have taken
almost all of your energy. Aargh.

Yeah, I knew about this...but the thing is, the AI won't do the forward
knee, it just simply walks Guile halfway across the screen to throw a
Sonic Boom. Another cheap ass thing AI Guile will do is break out a
Flash Kick without even charging, like he's just standing up(or even
walking) and does it.

Charge characters, in my experience, have to be played with a solid
split of offense and defense...trying to do just one of both will get
you killed quickly. I do quite well with Guile, but I do even better
with Charlie(SFA series). Blanka has always been fun, especially once
they added his upward spinning attack.
