Post subject: Bard's Tale Demo ... again
Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>games>rpg (more info?)

I just downloaded an "updated" version of Bard's Tale demo from DLX
(Gamespot). Anyway, the graphics look pretty decent once you go into the
setup utility and up the resolution. But what I'm having trouble with is
the quest appears bugged. I wandered around aimlessly and found some camp
inside this crypt, and then I found something at the camp, the bard said
something like "this should get me past those doors". But then I wandered
around and found some locked doors I can't open. And last, I found some
dude who was trapped. But I can't seem to figure any way to progress from
this point. Whatever I "found" at the camp site didn't help me open any
doors.

Anyway, the system is very unique, what with the way you summon different
allies to help you. It almost feels like a puzzle game where you have to
know which allies to fit different situations. I can't tell how level ups
work because I didn't level up during my brief stint in the demo. Is the
real game more open ended or is it just a bunch of dungeons? I have had my
fill with dungeons lately from Dungeon Lords.

Speaking of Dungeons... I'm going to try Dungeon Siege 2 Beta next.
