Hey guys,

this is a real technical question. I have BTS on my pc,; I was playing
a game and I decided I wanted to continue on my laptop. So I took the
file and emailed to my laptop and installed BTS on my laptop. Then I
took the file from my email and placed it on my desktop. My pc uses
Windows XP and my laptop uses Vista; I cannot load that saved game
into BTS on my laptop. I tried everything (I think). But it crashes. I
tried to find BTS on my laptop so I can maybe place the file inside.
But I cant do it. Any suggestions on what steps I must take?

thanks

Andre

The Civ games have a very specific place that they look for save files.
On my PC, (running XP) I go into <My Documents>, then <My Games>, then
<Beyond the Sword>, then <Saves>, then <Single>. At that point, I can
see my saves games. If I download a save from CivFanatics and put it
here, I can play it. Now, the problem is, I don't have Vista, so I
don't know where the save files are on that OS.

I would assume that you could just do a search on your laptop for any
files titled *.civ and find where they are that way. I believe that the
save files are called something like that. You should be also able to
move directories from the load saved game page of the game itself. When
you get to this page, look on the left at the directory tree. Start
trying to click on areas above where you currently are until you get to
your <C> drive. You should be able to find it from there...

I placed the file in the right place where Tim said. And when I try to
load that game, the error message says:"load error. cannot load
version 301
expected version 300 or lower.

So I guess it does have something to do with a certain version. Maybe
I'll update the game version on the laptop?
