You be the judge
In 3DRealms forum I wrote this and they BANNED me for life!

This is deja vu all around!
Doesn't anyone remember the same happened exactly a year ago?
Prey was announced as having Product Activation and in this same forum
fans complained and Take2 backed away from it and gave up using
Product Activation.
Now the same is announced for BioShock and all this silence?
Nobody complaints?
And btw I feel its too much coincidence both being published by Take2
so probably after all the original initiative of wanting to use
Product Activation in Prey came from Take2 themselves and it was
probably 3DR that made them gave up.
Now its sad seeing all this silence when a year ago I do believe PC
Gamers speaking out made Prey not have Product Activation
Very sad...

I was the PC Gamer that has bought 5 units full price New factory
sealed of Prey for at the end the game not having Product Activation,
so now Bioshock with Product Activation guess how many I will buy?
ZERO!
http://pcgames2006.tripod.com/pcgbought.htm
The boycott continues!
The fight continues!

PS: Its the PC version that has Product Activation, and not the
console version so its again PC Gamers that get "screwed", and they
even ask why sales are down for the PC!

PSS: Knowing that Take2 is also the publisher of DNF I wonder if it
will go the same route and if this time 3DR will allow it

-- end quote --

The original thread is this one:
http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/showthread.php?t=9931
But both mine and the original message that informed about Bioshock
having Product Activation were deleted!

So what is so offensive in the message I just wrote?
"screwed"? PLEASE!
So basically I just wrote about my opposition to Bioshock having
Product Activation and being sad about others not also complaining
Is this reason for them to delete the message and BANNING me for life
from their forum?

And not only my message was deleted, but also the original message by
M-Jay only saying Bioshock had Product Activation was also DELETED!
Why did they deleted the message with only the information came from
Take2 that Bioshock has Product Activation???

This is the treatment we are getting from developers and publishers,
and the ironic part is I'm a 3D Realms customer that has bought 5
units of Prey New Factory sealed
http://pcgames2006.tripod.com/pcgbought.htm

And deleting the message that only informed about Bioshock having
Product Activation????
What are they trying to do? Hide information from us????
I guess the more ignorant the customer the better from them...

Now you do what you feel is right, but let me ask you this, if you
have an account in the 3D Realms forum and if you find what they did
is wrong not only for me but for PC Gamers overall please go there and
complaint against the CENSORSHIP they are imposing, yes its their
forum and they can do whatever they want but you also have the right
to complaint, go and complaint even if at the end you will be BANNED
like me.
Don't let them TAME US!
Don't let them make us afraid to speak out!
Don't let them SHUT US UP!

Buy a new internet service. You'll have a new IP and you can go back on the
forums and get banned all over again.

They have also contacted me about ordering a contract ass-beating for
you, which I'm seriously thinking about accepting their bid. Where
would you like it delivered?

pc games <pcgamer23708.TakeThisOut@yahoo.com> contributed wisdom to
news:1184316913.123930.231410@q75g2000hsh.googlegroups.com:

> Now the same is announced for BioShock and all this silence?

So basically you called for mutiny, boycott, rabble rousing.
And you did it in their forums, on their servers, that they have created
for the support of their games.

And they said that they dont really need you coming back?
Wow, that is so... so.... common of them. Smile

Now if they had thanked you for your opinion and let you stay, that would
be very uncommon of them. So the fact that they refused you service on the
forums after that doesnt really come as a big shock to me.

publishers and developers?? Unbelievable

Or better yet just use a modem and dial-up so you get a random IP each time,
just for posting.

Most people here would have kicked you out years ago if that was possible
on usenet. Smile

"Banned for life" is a silly term on the internet anyway. Nobody can ban
you for "life". They can ban your IP (few minutes...), your machine ID,
your account name (heh), or your credit card (if a pay service) -- and
that's it. So, cut down on the drama. You do not have freedom of speech in
privately owned forums and services, you're a guest, and if you piss on
their carpet, they'll kick you out of their house.

Welcome to reality.

The IP is not the only thing that can be detected through the browser
