Post subject: Anamiction RAM question.
Archived from groups: rec>games>vectrex (more info?)

Can someone explain how the de-multiplexer works in relation to
accessing the onboard RAM? I'd like to design a PCB that can handle
extra RAM, and bankswitching (which i've just about got my head round)
for a future project.

Sorry if this seems like a noob question, my electronics skills are
still a work-in-progress kind of thing:)

Kind Regards, Andy.

basically they have all access to adresses above 2000h switched to the
ram (via ce for example).
so all you need is some logic doing that.
using 74139 logic ics is the cheapest solution for animaction carts
only. if you prefer to have a solution with individual bank
configurations for each game i recommend using cplds (teh xilinx 95xx
series for example)
here's the shematic of my old multicarts that support animaction
aswell:
http://www.madtronix.com/files/vectrex_multiconn_v1_1_shematic.pdf

now that i finally shipped all 3d imagers and vecvoxxes i will setup an
online store with all my stuff. after that i will order a batch of pcbs
for my new jumperless multicarts with animaction support so if you want
you can go the easy way Wink

if you just want to play around with a working cart i can send you the
multicart pcb for animaction multicarts from the shematic above for
FREE. it uses common 28 pin eproms. you gotta buy the ram (6264) and
the 74ls139 on your own though since i no longer have them. just drop
me a line.

I was going to reply with an Animaction PCB schematic, but it looks
like John has you well covered... considering his multicart is tested
and working. The schematic I have is a reverse engineering of an
Animaction cart.
