Post subject: Adding W5 as a satellite
Archived from groups: alt>video>satellite>4dtv (more info?)

Onsat reports that AMC-18 has been assigned the mapping code W5. But
when I tried to set up W5 my DSR 922 won't let me.

It shows in the available codes when I press "options, 6,4,4" but when I
pres "enter" on it I return to the grid showing all the available
satellites. I thought maybe I had reached some kind of memory limit so
I tried adding another satellite (A6) and it worked just fine.

Is there a trick? What am I missing? Or do I have a corrupted memory
and I need to reinitialize and start over?

Thanks for the help.

Take care,
Rich

Even though he's dead it makes about much sense
to vote for him as it does for the choices
that we have who are living. At least he's not
going change his position on anything.

This issue has been discussed at *great* length in the 4DTV forum at
http://forums.satforums.com

Generally, you're right -- the answer is a master reset. Been there,
done that; W5 comes in great.

Thanks for the info.

Does it JUST happen with W5? Or is it just randomly any given sat?

Take care,

You're out of memory to hold W5. It will happen with any newly added or
modified satellite. You may have other random problems.

According to Lyngsat,AMC-15 and AMC-18 are co-located in the same spot
(105°W).I am able to tune in AMC-18,but how are you supposed to tune a
co-located bird (AMC-15)? Or,is it that AMC-18 is supposed to replace
AMC-15 and that one is just going to become an in orbit spare?

A full master reset and reprogram worked. Lots more generic sats
available now, too.

Has anyone seen a recent master list for the 2 letter sat codes for the
4DTV receiver and the actual birds. I was specifically wondering about
Galaxy 27, AMC 2 and AMC 16.

Take care,
Rich
